Of Forests And Men by Yann Arthus-Bertrand

  • Feb. 5th, 2011 at 3:04 PM

"Yann Arthus-Bertrand was appointed by the United Nations to produce the official film for the International Year of Forests.
Following the success of Home which was seen by 400 million people, the photographer began producing a short 7-minute film on forests made up of aerial images from Home and the Vu du Ciel television programmes.
This film will be shown during a plenary session of the Ninth Session of United Nations Forum on Forests (24 January - 4 February 2011) in New York. It will be available to all from February 2 – for free – so that it can be shown worldwide."

Oooh look! I have a blog!

  • Jan. 27th, 2011 at 6:52 PM

Whatever happened to me? My last public blog entry was from late 2009? What the HADES have I been doing with my life??? I used to do this damned close to daily.

Writing for school has taken all the ink out of me, it seems. Here's what I'll do about that now, and if I don't get distracted...hey, here's some truly amazing music: www.dragonritualdrummers.com/

I'm allergic to unemployment....

  • Sep. 29th, 2009 at 4:02 PM

Ugh. Started sneezing, coughing, really not liking anything that involved respiration, movement or even thought yesterday. Immediately after getting off the phone with my supervisor who told me that she, "had to let me go."

At this point, I'm scolding myself for not immediately jumping into a more "Tally-ho!!! Onto better opportunities and ventures! Wahhhooooooo!" state-of-mind. I used to be good at that; I might be getting old. Right now, the kicked-puppy feeling of being laid off is taking some time to actually wear off. I'll get there.

On the bright, shiny and more fluffy side, I get to concentrate more of my energy of heading home to New Jersey next week to see my MOMMY! Yay! Leaving Tuesday the 6th and coming back on the 13th...

Basking in Mabon's afterglow..........

  • Sep. 28th, 2009 at 12:56 AM

Ahhh, the first thunderstorms of Autumn! I love it!

It's an amazing evening; the divine breeze coming in, the pattering of the rain, thunder galloping up behind the lightning in the distance.

Saturday night had me deep in shared sacred space with some real true friends. I found myself very pleased with how our (mine and B's) effort quickly and easily turned into a very warm, honest and powerful connection. I'm very happy that we also had no spectators; everyone worked, everyone contributed, everyone brought something for the feast-literally and figuratively!

I'm of the belief that we did some real mountain-moving work, and the seeds of which will blossom into great things. I'm eager to see what blessings everyone will surely reap.

The War Prayer

Random head purging...

  • Mar. 14th, 2009 at 12:55 AM

I could waste a hell of a lot of time and energy wishing my past had been different. But if my past had been different, it would mean that I would be a different person now.

I'm at times what I consider to be terribly hard on some people. Sometimes I make myself completely unavailable, emotionally or otherwise,  to others in need because I'm so concerned with conserving my own energies for my own usage. I'm not even sure why I'm saving it all up.

I've come to the STARTLING REVELATION that it's perfectly alright to let other people be wrong once in a while. I know a lot of people who seem to have nothing better to do than try and correct others, whether it be on their opinions, their actions or their lives. Dude, sometimes it's perfectly alright the let other people F*CK UP and have the opportunity to learn from their mistakes. Joss Stone says so.

I used to spend a lot of time in the company of co-dependent, needy, energy-sucking bottom feeders, and I called them friends because it was convenient. I've come into the realization that I have a lot fewer "friends" these days simply because I've stopped putting up with people who don't make me or our mutual friends/family feel awesome.

What is a degu, you ask?

  • Jan. 27th, 2009 at 6:21 PM

ENOUGH ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE!!! A good friend told me all about a little critter called a degu, and what can I say, I WANT ONE!!! (More likely, two since they are apparently very sociable.)

www.youtube.com/watch  OMG! Watch this video!!! Now! Go now! Do it NOW!

According to the Scripture (ahem) that is Wikipedia:

"The Degu (Octodon degus) is a small caviomorph rodent that is native to Chile. It is sometimes referred to as the Brush-Tailed Rat (although not closely related to the rat family) and is also called the Common Degu, to distinguish it from the other members of the genus Octodon. Other members are also called degus, but they are distinguished by additional names. The name "degu" on its own, however, indicates either the genus Octodon or, more usually, O. degus. Degus are closely related to the chinchilla and guinea pig, also placed in parvorder Caviomorpha."  And adorable. SQUEEEE!!!

Writer's Block: Year of the Ox

Happy Chinese New Year! The Year of the Ox starts today. What is your Chinese zodiac animal? Do you think you fit the description of the sign?

I am an Earth Horse, of course...

These are some of the Horse qualities/attributes listed in "Chinese Astrology: Ancient Secrets For Modern Life" by Sabrina Liao that do indeed apply to me: Amusing, charming :D, confident, curious, energetic, enterprising, flexible, independent, loyal, sincere, contradictory, disobedient, hot-tempered, impatient, and moody. Yep, that's me....

Now, when speaking of actual living horses, here's how I relate to what I know of them: I'm extremely discerning, fickle and gut-lead when it comes to interacting with others-I choose my friends and close associates by what "feels" right. I like my space, I like room to run, and I pity the fool who may try to force me to do something I don't want to do. Best of luck with that. I also seem to have the "dominant mare" presence in the social realm; people tend to follow my lead whether or not I ask them to do so or even if I don't necessarily know what to do. I always seem to be the damned fool leading the charge.

Nayyyyyyyyyyy....

"I'll bet someone back east is going, "Now why don't he write?""

Yup. Haven't written on here in forever and three hours. Sue me. The desire is there but the inspiration and motivation seem to be lagging. I'll get there soon.
